Softball Recap: Aucilla Christian Takes a Loss

Aucilla Christian extended their losing streak to five on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 3-7 in the process. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-5 heartbreaker at the hands of the Leon Lions. The Warriors were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lions apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

Harli Ray made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. Alexandria Whaley was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

As for Leon, they pushed their record up to 15-6 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games.

On Leon's side, Taylor Winfield made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Winfield was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Cynthia Conte was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run. Another player making a difference was Kierstyn Fuller, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Aucilla Christian has already played their next contest, a 15-0 win against First Christian on the 17th. As for Leon, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 12-2 defeat against Madison County on the 17th.
