Softball Recap: North Greene Takes a Loss

North Greene had lost five straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 2-11 to make it six. They came up short against the Calhoun Warriors, falling 11-1. If the Spartans were looking for revenge after losing 14-0 to the Warriors when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

North Greene saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brooklyn Sharrow, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI. That RBI was Sharrow's first of the season.

As for Calhoun, they moved to 13-6 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won 11 contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

On Calhoun's side, Anabel Eilerman made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and not a single walk). Eilerman has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since April 3rd.

In other batting news, Calhoun let Lacy Pohlman and Kiera Sievers run wild. Pohlman went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, two doubles, and one RBI, while Sievers went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most hits Pohlman has posted over her last 11 matchups. Conley Klocke was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one triple.

Coming up, North Greene will be playing in front of their home fans against Beardstown at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Calhoun, they will venture away from home to take on Jersey at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Warriors are facing the Panthers at the right time seeing as the Panthers are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
