Softball Game Preview: Springstead Eagles vs. Hudson Cobras

Springstead is a perfect 4-0 against Hudson since March of 2023 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Eagles will host the Cobras at 6:30 p.m. Springstead will be looking to extend their current nine-game winning streak.

On Wednesday, Springstead needed a bit of extra time to put away Mitchell. They came out on top against the Mustangs by a score of 5-1. That's two games straight that the Eagles have won by exactly four runs.

Alivia Miller made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 13 over eight innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 14 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

Miller wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Lili Klink, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Kaylana Lyons was another, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Hudson gave up the first runs on Tuesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They put the hurt on Fivay with a sharp 19-4 victory. Considering the Cobras have won seven matchups by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Hudson's win bumped their record up to 7-10. As for Springstead, their victory bumped their record up to 14-1.

Everything went Springstead's way against Hudson in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, as Springstead made off with an 11-3 win. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Cobras have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
