Preview: College Prep & Leadership Academy Royals vs. Carver Yellowjackets
College Prep & Leadership Academy is on a five-game streak of home losses (dating back to last season), Carver a ten-game streak of away losses (dating back to last season), but someone's luck is about to change. The College Prep & Leadership Academy Royals will be home for the holidays to greet the Carver Yellowjackets at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully College Prep & Leadership Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Tuesday.
College Prep & Leadership Academy pushed their score all the way to 59, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 70-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of Bethany. Even though they lost, College Prep & Leadership Academy's still made a splash on offense and bumped their average scoring up to 54 points per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).
Despite their loss, College Prep & Leadership Academy saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Aloni Rutledge, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of MacKenzie Dumbuya, who scored 18 points along with five steals.
Even though they lost, College Prep & Leadership Academy were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bethany only pulled down seven offensive rebounds.
Meanwhile, Carver earned a 42-33 win over Phoenix Academy on Friday. The victory was just what Carver needed coming off of a 55-10 loss in their prior game.
College Prep & Leadership Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Carver, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 3-4 record this season.
