Volleyball Game Preview: Neosho Wildcats vs. Kickapoo Chiefs

The Neosho Wildcats are taking a road trip to challenge the Kickapoo Chiefs at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Neosho lost 3-0 to Glendale on Tuesday. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

While Neosho was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-9, 25-22, 25-16.

Meanwhile, Kickapoo got the win against Joplin on Tuesday by a conclusive 3-0. The Chiefs haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Kickapoo took every set by at least 11 points. The final score came out to 25-12, 25-12, 25-14.

Kickapoo found their leader in sophomore Brittan Smith, who had eight digs and seven aces. Those seven aces set a new season-high mark for Smith. Myla Capel also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Kickapoo was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 13 aces. That's the most aces they've posted since back in September of 2024.

Neosho's loss dropped their record down to 4-10-2. As for Kickapoo, they now have a winning record of 8-7.

Neosho suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Kickapoo in their previous matchup back in September of 2024. Can the Wildcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
