Softball Recap: Wauseon Wins Going Away Against Pettisville

The Wauseon Indians made easy work of the Pettisville Blackbirds on Wednesday and carried off an 11-1 victory.

Breah Teal spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on ten hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, Wauseon got a massive performance out of Layla Martinez, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave Martinez a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Aubrianna Everly, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

Wauseon always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .516. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pettisville only posted an OBP of .333.

Wauseon's record now sits at 2-0. As for Pettisville, their loss was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-2.

Looking ahead, Wauseon will head out to face off against Rossford at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Pettisville, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Emmanuel Christian at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
