League recap: Glenbard North surprises Wheaton North

Glenbard North scored a stunning upset when it knocked off Wheaton North, 17-15. At the time, the Falcons were ranked 22nd in the state, while the Panthers were 30th.

The biggest upset of the week belonged to Naperville North, who took down 44th ranked Central, 26-23.

Glenbard East's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Joe Kotch threw for 265 and two touchdowns and Dan Ryan had 59 yards receiving. On the ground Kotch chipped in 23 yards. Malysha Flanders helped Glenbard East's passing attack out by catching four balls for 58 yards.

Glenbard East's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Rams feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Kotch has thrown for 1894 yards and 13 touchdowns this season, while Flanders has 24 catches for 484 yards. Kotch also leads the league in rushing with 551 yards.

Going into this week's game against Aurora West, the Rams' Kotch needs 106 passing yards to surpass 2,000 on the season.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Huskies take on Glenbard North. Naperville North is currently in third, while Ryan Wilkens' team is in second.

Glenbard East moved up to 273 from 304 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. John Walters' team was able to make the jump by falling to Wheaton-Warrenville South 48-21.
