Softball Recap: American Falls Takes a Loss

American Falls had lost six straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 6-15 to make it seven. They fell just short of the Bear Lake Bears by a score of 6-5. The game snapped a strange streak: the last four times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.

Cassie Osborne made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was McKenna Schutte, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

As for Bear Lake, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-10 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games.

On Bear Lake's side, Brooklynn Crockett spent all nine innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on eight hits and racked up seven Ks.

On the hitting side, Peyten Crockett was excellent, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooklynn Pope, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Coincidentally, American Falls and Bear Lake will both be playing Preston the next time they take the field. The Beavers will host the Indians at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the Bears will host them at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
