The Omaha Central Eagles are taking a road trip to challenge the Norfolk Panthers at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Omaha Central will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
Omaha Central lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Omaha Northwest, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Tuesday's match. The Eagles' pitcher stepped up to hand the Huskies a 10-0 shutout on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won six contests by ten runs or more so far this season.
Grant Hamill tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out six over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Luke Neujahr, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Mark Ripp also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Omaha Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Norfolk ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They came out on top against Lincoln Northeast by a score of 6-3.
Ethan Synovec made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Norfolk is 2-1 when Synovec allows one or fewer earned runs, but 3-11 otherwise. Synovec was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.
Synovec wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Maddox Magnussen, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Norfolk's victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-12. As for Omaha Central, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-11.
Omaha Central couldn't quite get it done against Norfolk in their previous matchup back in March of 2023 as they fell 6-1. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
