Softball Game Preview: Firebaugh Eagles vs. Immanuel Eagles

Firebaugh is 1-6 against Immanuel since May of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. We've got a battle between Eagles coming up. Firebaugh has given up an average of 15.2 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

Firebaugh is headed into Friday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their seventh straight game dating back to last season on Tuesday. They lost 11-4 to Corcoran.

Bethany Mendoza and Ana'Bella Tovar did some serious damage despite the final result: Mendoza scored a run and stole Three bases. while going 2-for-3, while Tovar scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday Immanuel's undefeated season almost came to an end. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against Sierra. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Eagles have posted since April 30, 2024.

Amanda Herrera spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Immanuel saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Abigail Thomas, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. McKay Thomas also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Immanuel hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most four strikeouts in four consecutive games.

Firebaugh's loss dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Immanuel, their record is now 5-0-1.

Firebaugh might still be hurting after the 14-1 defeat they got from Immanuel in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can Firebaugh avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
