Softball Recap: Newman Smith Takes a Loss

Newman Smith was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 27th straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against The Colony Cougars, falling 14-0. If the Trojans were looking for revenge after losing 22-0 to the Cougars when the teams met back in March of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Newman Smith's defeat dropped their record down to 0-12. As for The Colony, their win bumped their record up to 2-9.

Coming up, Newman Smith will square off against Reedy on Monday. Reedy will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Newman Smith surely won't give up without a fight. As for The Colony, they will head out on the road to challenge Highland Park at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Highland Park has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.58 runs per game on average), something The Colony will no doubt try to take advantage of.
