Football Game Preview: Southern Choctaw Indians vs. Sweet Water Bulldogs + How To Watch

Southern Choctaw is 0-4 against Sweet Water since October of 2015 but things could change on Friday. The Indians will square off against the Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. Southern Choctaw's defense has only allowed 9.8 points per game this season, so Sweet Water's offense will have their work cut out for them.

Southern Choctaw hadn't beaten Millry on the road since September 29, 2017 but that history sure didn't bother them on Friday. The Indians walked away with a 26-14 victory over the Wildcats.

Ray Bender was his usual excellent self, rushing for 174 yards and three TDs while picking up 10.2 yards per carry. Southern Choctaw also got a significant boost from Kyller Nicholson, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 92 yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Southern Choctaw was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 332 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 150 rushing yards in three consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Sweet Water waltzed into their game on Friday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They breezed past the Panthers to the tune of 34-6. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Bulldogs had established a 21-point advantage.

Southern Choctaw better keep an eye on Deion Blanks. He was instrumental in Sweet Water's win, rushing for 118 yards and one touchdown while picking up 7.4 yards per carry, and also picking up 58 receiving yards and a pair of scores. Another player making a difference was Daquan Norwood, who threw for 75 yards and a pair of TDs on only seven passes.

The win got Sweet Water back to even at 4-4. As for Southern Choctaw, their record now sits at 7-1.

Southern Choctaw took a serious blow against Sweet Water in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, falling 35-0. Can the Indians avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
