Basketball Recap: Phillips Takes a Loss

Phillips won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Thursday. They lost 65-41 to the Winfield Pirates. While losing is never fun, the Bears can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 403rd, while the Pirates are ranked 178th).

Phillips has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-12 record this season. As for Winfield, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-11 record this season.

Phillips has already played their next contest, a 59-50 defeat against Phil Campbell on the 24th. As for Winfield, they will head out on the road to challenge Florence at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Florence has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
