Basketball Recap: Queen Creek Takes a Loss

Queen Creek was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were outmatched by the Williams Field Black Hawks and fell 83-29. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 200th, while the Black Hawks are ranked 19th).

Queen Creek lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Amaya Rodgers, who posted nine points along with eight boards and three steals. Another player making a difference was Ivanna Rosales, who had ten points.

Williams Field was led to victory by Sophia Carnes and Corrine Jones. Carnes went 12 for 29 en route to 33 points and three steals, while Jones dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. Jones has been hot, having posted eight or more boards the last five times she's played. Autumn Thomas also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

Queen Creek's loss dropped their record down to 5-16. As for Williams Field, their record now sits at 16-3.

Queen Creek will welcome Desert Ridge at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Queen Creek is facing Desert Ridge at the right time seeing as Desert Ridge is stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for Williams Field, they will head out to square off against Higley at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Higley has won three straight at home, while Williams Field won six straight on the road dating back to last season), something that'll have to change.
