Basketball Preview: Crooms Academy Panthers vs. Crescent City Raiders
The Crooms Academy Panthers will square off against the Crescent City Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Thursday, Crooms Academy came up short against the Panthers and fell 55-46. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Crooms Academy in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now lost three in a row.
Despite the defeat, Crooms Academy saw an underclassman step up: Jayden Aristile scored 20 points along with three steals. Aristile is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 17 or more in the last three games he's played. Tyrell Johnson was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with nine rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Crescent City's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their eighth straight loss. They were outmatched by Tocoi Creek at home and fell 83-50. Crescent City was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 44-18.
Crooms Academy now has a losing record at 9-10. As for Crescent City, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost 12 of their last 13 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-17 record this season.
Crooms Academy was able to grind out a solid victory over the Raiders when the teams last played back in February of 2022, winning 64-53. The rematch might be a little tougher for Crooms Academy since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
