Basketball Recap: Ezell-Harding Christian Drops Season-High Score on Mount Juliet Christian Academy

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Ezell-Harding Christian). They took their matchup on Friday with ease, bagging a 94-40 victory over the Mount Juliet Christian Academy Saints. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 58th, while the Saints are ranked 301st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Ezell-Harding Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Mj Gibbs led the charge by going 8 of 15 on his way to 20 points in addition to six assists and five boards. Those six assists gave Gibbs a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kj Hillhouse, who went 7 for 10 en route to 17 points and three steals.

Gibbs wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Ezell-Harding Christian was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mount Juliet Christian Academy only racked up ten assists.

Mount Juliet Christian Academy's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Romel Anderson, who posted eight points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Shelton, who put up seven points.

Ezell-Harding Christian moved to 19-3 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Mount Juliet Christian Academy, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-10.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Friendship Christian the next time they take the court. Ezell-Harding Christian will head out to face Friendship Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, while Mount Juliet Christian Academy will head out to face them at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
