Basketball Game Preview: Woods Charter Wolves vs. Triangle Math & Science Tigers

The Woods Charter Wolves are taking a road trip to take on the Triangle Math & Science Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Triangle Math & Science took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Woods Charter, who comes in off a win.

Woods Charter is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Ascend Leadership: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Woods Charter blew Ascend Leadership out of the water with a 57-15 final score. The matchup was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Wolves had established a 31 point advantage.

Woods Charter found their leader in sophomore Grant Richardson, who posted 12 points and five steals. The dominant performance gave Richardson a new career-high in steals. Alden Phelps was another key player, putting up ten points along with five assists and five boards.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Triangle Math & Science took on Eno River Academy on Wednesday. Triangle Math & Science fell to Eno River Academy 56-50. The Tigers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Woods Charter has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.8 points per game. As for Triangle Math & Science, their loss dropped their record down to 4-15.

Everything went Woods Charter's way against Triangle Math & Science in their previous meeting back in January, as Woods Charter made off with a 59-35 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Woods Charter since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
