League recap: No. 1 Horizon Christian defeats No. 2 Dayton to stay on top

3A West Valley league recap: 5/7/12

The league's top two teams in the standings locked horns this week, as Horizon Christian took home a 4-1 victory over Dayton on May 2, 2012. Horizon Christian sits in first place in 3A West Valley at 11-0 (15-1 overall).

The Hawks (15-1, 11-0) are red-hot, having won 12 straight games, the longest such streak in the league. Two of those wins came in the past week, includingan 8-4 win over Willamina.

Sheridan's pitching was especially stingy this week, allowing 29 hits and 18 walks to lead the league in both categories. The Spartans have given up a mere 115 hits on the year in addition to compiling 50 strikeouts. Kyle Edwards is the leader in that category with 29 Ks on the season.
