Baseball Game Preview: Conneaut Spartans vs. Lakeside Dragons

Conneaut is 2-7 against Lakeside since May of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Spartans will head out to face off against the Dragons at 4:30 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Conneaut is headed into Monday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 16th straight game dating back to last season on Wednesday. They lost 14-1 to Edgewood. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 15, 2023, but that streak is no more.

Conneaut saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Chetti Arcaro, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one double and one RBI. That double marked the first that Arcaro has hit this season.

Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Lakeside's offense. They came up short against Pymatuning Valley on Thursday, falling 10-0. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Lakeside dropped their record down to 2-8 with the loss, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Conneaut, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-10.

Conneaut skirted past Lakeside 5-4 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Will the Spartans repeat their success, or do the Dragons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
