Avery County extended their losing streak  to four  on Friday, dropping them down to 1-6. They were  outmatched by the Mountain Heritage Cougars and fell  57-7. The Vikings were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at  42-0.
As for Mountain Heritage, the  win was  the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-1. Considering they have won five matchups by more than 28  points this season, Friday's  blowout was nothing new.
 Mountain Heritage was led to victory by  Brayden Deyton and  Cason Jones.  Deyton threw for 158 yards and three  TDs on only nine passes, while  Jones rushed for 109 yards and one  score. Jones' longest rush was for an impressive 55 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Mountain Heritage also got a significant boost from  Ervine Rodriguez, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 86 yards.
 Both  squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Avery County will challenge Hendersonville at 7:30  p.m.  on Friday. The Vikings will need to watch out since the Bearcats have now posted at least 31  points  every time they've taken the field this season. As for Mountain Heritage, they will face off against Mitchell at 7:30  p.m.  on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 946 yards in their previous games.
