Softball Recap: Palmetto Tigers vs. Sarasota Sailors
Palmetto extended their losing streak to three on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 12-9 in the process. They lost 10-4 to the Sarasota Sailors. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Sailors this season, with their most recent defeat being a 21-3 loss back in March.
LeiLani Cruz was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
As for Sarasota, they pushed their record up to 18-6 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 15 games by six runs or more this season.
On Sarasota's side, Gemma Mulhollen spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up nine Ks.
On the hitting side, Carley Ramsden and Mady Pint did most of the damage at the plate: Ramsden went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Pint went 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Ramsden is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Lydia Kaskey, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
As of now, neither Palmetto nor Sarasota have any future games scheduled.
