Volleyball Recap: Bayside Academy Wins High-Profile Matchup Against Lamar

Bayside Academy is ranked highly in their home state and on Saturday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of Lamar. The Admirals sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over the Raiders. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Admirals have posted since October 5, 2024.

Sophie Hester was the offensive standout of the matchup as she had 22 assists and four digs. That's the most assists she has posted over her last six games. Mary Katherine Whitehurst also deserves some recognition as she had her first kill of the season.

The win (which was Bayside Academy's third in a row) raised their record to 6-3. As for Lamar, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 12-4.

Bayside Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-2 loss against Austin on the 28th. As for Lamar, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 3-1 victory against Madison-Ridgeland Academy on the 26th.
