Volleyball Recap: Battle Spartans vs. Lutheran Cougars

Battle was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They came up short against the Lutheran Cougars, falling 3-0.

While Battle was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the second set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-5, 25-23, 25-18.

Oliver Bertel was the offensive standout of the game as he had eight digs and three assists. Those three assists gave him a new career-high. John Zumbehl also deserves some recognition as he had his first blocks of the season.

Battle's defeat dropped their record down to 0-7-1. As for Lutheran, they pushed their record up to 8-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Battle will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Nixa at 4:00 p.m. on the 24th. As for Lutheran, they will head out to challenge Westminster Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
