Baseball Preview: Carson Senators vs. Reno Huskies

Carson hasn't had much luck against Reno recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. Carson will square off against Reno at 3:45 p.m. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Carson took a seven-run loss the last time they faced off against Reed, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Carson had just enough and edged out Reed 8-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Senators have posted against the Raiders since April 2, 2022.

Tyler LaFollette was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all six of his plate appearances. What's more, he posted three hits, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. Chase Grundy was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in five of his six plate appearances.

Carson always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .532. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Reno faced Spanish Springs in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. Reno narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Spanish Springs 2-1.

Reno is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. Carson's victory ended a ten-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-10.
