Basketball Recap: Faith Christian Academy Comes Up Short

Faith Christian Academy suffered their biggest defeat since January 23, 2024 on Saturday. They lost 68-47 to the Community Christian Cyclones. The Conquerors were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Cyclones earlier this season, when they won 76-73.

Despite the loss, Faith Christian Academy still got an impressive performance from Jaxon Howard, who posted 19 points in addition to seven assists and five boards. Howard has been hot, having posted 18 or more points the last seven times he's played. Another player making a difference was Ibn Triplin, who had seven points and seven rebounds.

Even though they lost, Faith Christian Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in three consecutive matches.

Community Christian got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Evan Gattis out in front who went 12-for-17 on his way to 28 points. What's more, Gattis also posted an 80% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's achieved since back in December of 2024. Jack Beamon was another key player, dropping a double-double with 19 points and 12 boards.

Faith Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 16-5. As for Community Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 15 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-4 record this season.
