Volleyball Recap: Grand Prairie Comes Up Short

Grand Prairie was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 3-1 to the Bowie Volunteers. The Gophers were not able to make up for their defeat to the Volunteers from their previous meeting back in October of 2024.

The 3-1 score doesn't really reflect how close the match was: every set was decided by three points or less. The final score came out to 25-23, 28-26, 24-26, 25-22.

Taylor Nash paced Grand Prairie's offense, picking up 11 kills. Nash got some help from Jalesa Escamilla and her 32 assists. Finally, Aniya Banks kept Grand Prairie's defense grounded, leading the team with three blocks.

Grand Prairie's loss dropped their record down to 9-6-1. As for Bowie, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-6.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Grand Prairie will square off against rival Martin at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Bowie is set to take on their familiar foe Sam Houston at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
