Softball Recap: Godley Now 8-1 over Last Nine Games

The Godley Wildcats got the win against the Ferris Yellowjackets on Friday by a conclusive 12-1. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 matches by seven runs or more this season.

Hayden Keeton made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Halle Gross, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Karlee Clark, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Godley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ferris only posted an OBP of .250.

Godley is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.2 runs over those games. Ferris' loss dropped their record down to 9-9-2.

Coming up, Godley will take on Hillsboro at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hillsboro has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed seven runs per game on average), something Godley will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Ferris, they will welcome Alvarado at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
