Softball Recap: Lunenburg Central's Undefeated Season over After Nine Games

If Lunenburg Central was riding high fresh off their 10-0 takedown of Southampton on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Chargers fell just short of the Buckingham Knights by a score of 6-5 on Thursday. The Chargers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Knights apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Having lost for the first time this season, Lunenburg Central fell to 8-1. As for Buckingham, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-3.

Looking ahead, Lunenburg Central will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Prince Edward County at 5:00 p.m. The Chargers are facing the Eagles at the right time seeing as the Eagles are stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Buckingham, they will venture away from home to take on Amherst County at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Lancers' pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so the Knights' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
