Bishop Ready had lost five straight at home, but on Monday they dropped down to 4-11 to make it six. They came up short against the Grandview Heights Bobcats, falling 14-7. The Silver Knights were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Bobcats earlier this season, when they won 5-2.
Alberto Tejada and Brendan Long stepped up to the plate in a big way. Tejada went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Long went 2-for-3 with four stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. With that strong performance, Long is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game. Another player making a difference was Ethan Mutnich, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
As for Grandview Heights, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.6 runs over those games.
On Grandview Heights' side, Grant Gambone was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up four earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits. Gambone was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Sam Bandy was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Kinny Wilson was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Bishop Ready has already played their next game, an 8-1 victory against Franklin Heights on the 30th. As for Grandview Heights, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, an 8-1 win against Columbus Academy on the 29th.
