Recap: Wray Eagles vs. Merino Rams
The Wray Eagles were the 56-42 winner over the Merino Rams when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The game between the pair wasn't particularly close, with Wray falling 46-31. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points they have scored all season.
Wray lost on Friday despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being AB Ruiz, who scored six points along with seven rebounds. Rafael Trejo was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Wray struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Wray's loss ended a ten-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 2-4. As for Merino, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wray won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Dundy County-Stratton at 7:00 p.m. on January 6th. Dundy County-Stratton is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 56.4 points per game. Merino won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Peetz at 2:00 p.m. on January 6th. Peetz will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 135th, while Merino is ranked 19th).
