Basketball Game Preview: Holbrook Roadrunners vs. Alchesay Falcons

The Holbrook Roadrunners will head out to take on the Alchesay Falcons at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Last Friday, Holbrook lost to Snowflake at home by a 64-46 margin. While losing is never fun, the Roadrunners can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 75th, while the Lobos are ranked 16th).

Meanwhile, Alchesay was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 44-39 heartbreaker at the hands of Show Low.

Holbrook will have to contain Alyssa Jim as she made an impact in Alchesay's last game. She posted nine points and three blocks. That's the most blocks Jim has posted since back in December of 2024. Kioni Nashio was another key player, putting up ten points.

Even though they lost, Alchesay smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Alchesay's loss dropped their record down to 11-16. As for Holbrook, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-13.

Holbrook strolled past Alchesay in their previous matchup on Tuesday by a score of 51-32. The rematch might be a little tougher for Holbrook since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
