Softball Recap: Naugatuck Greyhounds vs. Westhill Vikings

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Naugatuck can now relate to. They fell just short of the Westhill Vikings by a score of 6-4 on Tuesday.

Leah Chatfield put in work while hitting and pitching. She struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off seven hits. Chatfield has been consistent recently: she hasn't pitched less than six innings in six consecutive pitching appearances. Chatfield was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with a triple, two RBI, and a run.

Chatfield wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Aryn Bombery, who went 1-for-3 with a triple and an RBI.

Naugatuck's defeat dropped their record down to 14-8. As for Westhill, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-6.

As of now, neither Naugatuck nor Westhill have any future games scheduled.
