Recap: East Canton Hornets vs. Malvern Hornets
It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the East Canton Hornets ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Malvern and snuck past 38-35. That result was just more of the same for these two, as East Canton also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2023.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead East Canton to victory, but perhaps none more so than Chelsea Barnett, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds. The match was Barnett's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Ella Carter, who scored seven points along with 11 rebounds.
East Canton is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 5-6 record this season. As for Malvern, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. East Canton will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against Sandy Valley at 7:30 p.m. on January 10th. As for Malvern, they will face off against Catholic Central at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Catholic Central focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 on Thursday.
