Baseball Recap: MacArthur Takes a Loss

MacArthur had lost six straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 3-15 to make it seven. They lost 18-3 to the Rochester Rockets. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Generals of the 16-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

As for Rochester, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 17-7. Considering they have won ten contests by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

For Rochester's part, Eli Carlson and Breck Calvert made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Carlson tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Calvert pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Carlson has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. At the plate, Carlson went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI, while Calvert got on base in both of his plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. That's the most runs Calvert has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Jorey Myren and Ajay Runkel did most of the damage at the plate: Myren went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double, while Runkel went a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Reece Gade was another key player, getting on base in both of his plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Looking ahead, MacArthur will square off against Tri-Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Rochester, they will face off against Mt. Zion at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Braves' pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so the Rockets' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
