Baseball Recap: Hughes Springs Starts off Right with Win over Queen City

Hughes Springs gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Monday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Queen City Bulldogs an 8-0 shutout. The victory continues a trend for the Mustangs in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won three in a row.

Trenton Pemberton was incredible, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three). Bryce Ratley was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.

Queen City now has a losing record of 0-1-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hughes Springs will hit the road for the first time this season to face off against Paris at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Queen City, they will head out to challenge Elysian Fields at 6:45 p.m. on Thursday.
