Basketball Recap: Battle Mountain Picks Up Tenth Straight Win at Home

Battle Mountain extended their winning streak to five games thanks to a huge performance from Geovanni Ruvalcaba. The Battle Mountain Longhorns walked away with a 63-53 win over the Pershing County Mustangs on Friday thanks in part to Ruvalcaba, who posted 18 points. He is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 16 or more in the last three games he's played.

Brodie Smith was another key player, going 5 for 9 on his way to 12 points and five boards. What's more, he also racked up two blocks, the most he's had since back in December of 2023.

Pershing County's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Trenton Rhodes, who scored 15 points. Another player making a difference was Travis Donaldson, who put up 12 points.

The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.8 points per game. As for Pershing County, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-11.
