Nevis is 8-2 against Pine River-Backus since May of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. Nevis will take on Pine River-Backus at 4:30 p.m.
Nevis fell victim to Cannon Falls and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They came up short against the Bombers, falling 7-0. The match marked the first time this season in which the Tigers were not able to get on the board.

05/01/25 @ Kelliher/Northome | 2 |
Nevis saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Devan Lindow, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base. Lindow has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Pine River-Backus). They put the hurt on Kelliher/Northome with a sharp 25-6 win on Thursday. With that victory, the Tigers brought their scoring average up to 7.2 runs per game.
Eli Abraham was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Abraham was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with six RBI and one double. Those six RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Grady Mongan was a standout: he got on base in three of his four plate appearances with five stolen bases and three runs. He has become a key player for Pine River-Backus: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 3-6 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Koal Oberfell, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with four stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI.
Pine River-Backus always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .619. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
The win made it two in a row for Pine River-Backus and bumps their season record up to 6-6. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.5 runs over those games. As for Nevis, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-4 record this season.
Pine River-Backus' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Nevis hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .318. It's a different story for Pine River-Backus, though, as they've only averaged .249. Will they be able to contain Nevis' hitters?
Nevis took their win against Pine River-Backus when the teams last played back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 13-3 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for Nevis since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
