Baseball Game Preview: Mt. Markham Mustangs vs. Westmoreland Bulldogs

For the second straight game, Mt. Markham will face off against Westmoreland. The Mustangs will host the Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Mt. Markham has three straight victories, Westmoreland has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Mt. Markham's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Westmoreland with a sharp 7-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won four contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Jacob Donely made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Donely was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Those two hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Owen Jones was a standout: he got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game. Jamison Young was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
