Baseball Recap: Tipton Triumphs

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Northwestern, Tipton was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They came out on top against the Clinton Central Bulldogs by a score of 9-5. The Blue Devils' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Jack Roach made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing four innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off four hits. Roach was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with three RBI and one double. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Tipton got a massive performance out of Nathan Hawkins, who scored a run while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave Hawkins a new career-high in RBI (three). Another player making a difference was Kellen Hussong, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Tipton's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Clinton Central, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Tipton will square off against Logansport at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Clinton Central, they will challenge Twin Lakes at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
