Wake Forest put their dominant pitcher on display in the team's fifth consecutive shutout on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Northern Durham Knights with a sharp 9-0 victory. The Cougars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by eight runs or more this season.

Jil Livengood was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 19 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up a single earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with three runs and one triple. That triple marked the first that she hit this season.

In other batting news, Nova Pate was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaylee Bowers, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Wake Forest pushed their record up to 7-0 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.0 runs on average over those games. As for Northern Durham, they are on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-8.

Wake Forest has already played their next match, a 7-1 win against Wakefield on the 21st. As for Northern Durham, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 16-1 victory against Southern School of Energy and Sustainability on the 19th.
