Recap: Independence Home School Lions vs. Training Center Christian
The Independence Home School Lions had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.6 points), and they went ahead and made it nine on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Training Center Christian 52-50. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win Independence Home School has posted yet this season.
Independence Home School can attribute much of their success to Joe Young, who scored 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Philip Cresswell, who scored eight points.
Despite the loss, Training Center Christian saw an underclassman step up: Creed Lopez dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. Lopez is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Tanner Korn, who scored 11 points.
Independence Home School's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-1. As for Training Center Christian, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season.
Independence Home School will square off against Varsity Opponent at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Varsity Opponent has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since January 15. As for Training Center Christian, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Applewood Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
