Basketball Recap: Celina Comes Up Short

Celina was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 45-42 heartbreaker at the hands of the Shawnee Indians. If the Bulldogs were looking for revenge after losing 45-37 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Shawnee was led to victory by Alexis Whetstone and Cadence Wilson. Whetstone went 5 of 7 en route to 13 points, while Wilson posted 12 points and eight rebounds.

Celina's defeat dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Shawnee, their win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 5-8.

Celina is taking a road trip to take on New Knoxville at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Shawnee, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Jefferson at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
