Baseball Game Preview: Booker Kiowas vs. Gruver Greyhounds

Booker is 1-9 against Gruver since March of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Kiowas will host the Greyhounds at 3:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Booker sitting on eight straight victories and Gruver on seven.

Booker proved they can win big on Friday (they won by 17) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Sanford-Fritch, sneaking past 3-1.

Chase Nelson made a splash no matter where he played. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Julian Rosales, who went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases and two runs. Another player making a difference was Brayland Gonzales, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.

Gruver came out on top against Sunray on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run third inning. The Greyhounds won by a run and slipped past the Bobcats 4-3. The four-run effort marked the Greyhounds' lowest-scoring matchup of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Booker's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-2. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.2 runs over those games. As for Gruver, their win bumped their record up to 7-0.
