Baseball Recap: Guilford Wins Going Away Against Rockford East

Guilford won the last time they faced Rockford East and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Vikings blew past the E-Rabs 17-2. Considering the Vikings have won seven matches by more than nine runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

James Versino and Trevor Erickson did most of the damage at the plate: Versino got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs, while Erickson got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave Versino a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddux Lee, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Guilford always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .639. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rockford East only posted an OBP of .500.

Guilford's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 10-9. As for Rockford East, they are on a 25-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-14.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Guilford will venture away from home to challenge Woodstock at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Rockford East, they will head out to square off against Jefferson at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
