Football Recap: Fort Bend Willowridge Comes Up Short

Fort Bend Willowridge had lost three straight at home, but on Friday they dropped down to 1-6 to make it four. They were dealt a 49-21 defeat at the hands of the Almeta Crawford Chargers. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 768th, while the Chargers are ranked 194th).

As for Almeta Crawford, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 48.8 points over those games.

Braylen Fisher continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 149 yards and three touchdowns while completing 73.3% of his passes, and also rushing for 73 yards and one TD on only five carries. Amir Johnson was Fisher's top target, picking up 70 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fort Bend Willowridge will welcome Navasota at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Eagles will need to watch out since the Rattlers have now posted at least 31 points in their last six matchups. As for Almeta Crawford, they will host Needville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
