Baseball Recap: Tempe Prep Takes a Loss

Tempe Prep extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 4-12 in the process. They lost 11-1 to the Arizona Lutheran Academy Coyotes. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Knights have suffered against the Coyotes since March 5, 2015.

Tempe Prep saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Will Drescher, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

As for Arizona Lutheran Academy, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 10-11. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by six runs or more this season.

On Arizona Lutheran Academy's side, the team relied heavily on Rafael Guerrero, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most doubles Guerrero has posted since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Colton Pennington, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Looking ahead, Tempe Prep will host Veritas Prep at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. The Falcons' pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so the Knights' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Arizona Lutheran Academy, they are taking a road trip to square off against Tonopah Valley at 3:45 p.m. on Friday.
