Soccer Game Preview: Tapestry vs. Griffith Institute

The Tapestry Thunderhawks will head out on the road to challenge the Griffith Institute Griffins at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty goal totals in their previous games.

Tapestry took a loss when they played away from home two weeks ago, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 6-1 margin over Cardinal O'Hara. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 5-1.

Meanwhile, two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Griffith Institute walked away with it. They never let the Wolverines get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory on Tuesday. Griffith Institute might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matches by three goals or more this season.

Their offense was hitting Buffalo Academy of Science from everywhere, as six different players booted in a goal. Justin Emerling led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for three goals all by himself.

Griffith Institute is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-3-1 record this season. Tapestry's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2.

Tapestry suffered a grim 5-2 defeat to Griffith Institute in their previous meeting two weeks ago. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Thunderhawks were down 3-0.
