Soccer Game Preview: Hueytown vs. Fultondale

The Hueytown Golden Gophers will start their season against the Fultondale Wildcats. Kickoff is scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Fultondale is headed into Thursday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Tuesday. They were a single goal away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of Huffman. The matchup was a 1-1 toss-up at halftime, but the Wildcats couldn't quite close it out.

Their loss dropped their record down to 0-3.

As for Hueytown, they've got a clean slate this season. Last year, they finished on the right side of .500 (8-6), and they're hoping to kick off an even more successful campaign this year.

Hueytown suffered a grim 4-1 defeat to Fultondale when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Can Hueytown avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
