Softball Recap: Lightridge Picks Up Ninth Consecutive Win

While Lightridge put up some runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Stone Bridge. The Bolts put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 10-0 win. The victory was just business as usual for the Bolts, who after nine games remain undefeated this season.

Peyton Robinson was a major factor no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over six innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Maya Thaivalappil and Riley Thomas did most of the damage at the plate: Thaivalappil went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI, while Thomas went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Emmi Harris was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Lightridge was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .344 or higher in four consecutive games.

Lightridge pushed their record up to 9-0 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The team's perfect season has a lot to do with their hitting performance: the team's won by an average of 7.8 runs thus far. As for Stone Bridge, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Lightridge will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Bulldogs: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
