Baseball Recap: Lewis Lancers vs. Hayfield Hawks
Lewis had lost 13 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Monday they dropped down to 2-10 to make it 14. They lost 12-0 to the Hayfield Hawks. The Lancers were not able to make up for their loss to the Hawks from their previous meeting back in May of 2025.
As for Hayfield, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.4 runs over those games.
For Hayfield's part, Noah Laster made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, Laster posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and three runs. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played.
In other batting news, Jack Ross was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Mason Archer, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lewis will welcome Thomas Jefferson Science & Technology at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Athletics have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.18 runs per game on average), something the Lancers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Hayfield, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Annandale at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
